2018 Stage Four (Time Trial)
Route Profile
Route Description
There are fewer twists and turns in the Time Trial and despite the longer distance, it is fast and a great way to end the Tour.
Teams leave in descending order (Unofficial to Slowest to Fastest) and at 30" intervals. The route should be familiar through the White River suburbs, Impala Street and onto the Sabie Road. Apart from the bump into Impala Rd after 1km, the first real test of the legs comes at Jacaranda Hill which is 10km into the race. It's the first of three bumps to the turnaround point but there is plenty of recovery in-between. The final climb is up past the turnoff to Witklip Dam and as you crest the rise, you'll see the colourful turnaround point at 19km.
Now its head down and turn those legs over in a big gear. You'll see the other riders approaching the turnaround and you know the Tour is nearly over. From 26km on, if you've still got the power, it's Big Ring almost all the way to the Finish and the well-deserved medal.
