The Panorama Tour - The Toughest Race On Tar

The Uncatchable Breakaway

Kieran Correia & Tiano Da Silva win Stage Three of the PPS Panorama Tour

With only 14km to go, Kieran Correia & Tiano Da Silva (Team TDS) made a breakaway that couldn't be caught giving them a deserved win for Stage Three of the 13th PPS Panorama Tour

It was a stage of relentless attacks, starting from the end of the neutral zone all the way to the finish. The front bunch constantly tried tested the levels of fatigue in  each other’s legs on the numerous short sharp climbs along on the 74km route.

After several teams failed to maintain a successful breakaway, two riders emerged from the bunch at just the right time to secure the win. Kieran Correia & Tiano Da Silva 02:03:49 (Team TDS) were first across the line 23 seconds ahead of Tokhozani Mahlangu & Thulasizwe Mxenge (Team PCB Pro) 02:04:12 and Mike Hewan & Steve Cooke 02:04:14 (Team Inspire)

Correia comments on Stage Three and the break that secured them the win, “Our strategy was to race aggressively and attack the final climb. We decided to go when we did because a couple of riders in the bunch were starting to look uncomfortable. We managed to hold them off until the finish. Overall it was a good day in the saddle.”

Tomorrow is the Time Trial, the final day to gain precious minutes and seconds ahead of the competition. Teams leave in descending order (Unofficial to Slowest to Fastest) and at 30" intervals. This out and back is only 36km but if you want to take home a win you need 100% effort all the way to the finish.

The PPS Panorama Tour is a four-day event for teams of two, taking place from the   28th April – 1st May 2018 at Casterbridge, White River, Mpumalanga. This year's Tour boasts a revamped route that is sure to inspire and challenge even the most seasoned road cyclists.
